Slovenia: Increased electricity production in February

Slovenia’s net electricity generation in February 2021 increased by 17 % compared to the same month last year. In February 2021, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,275 GWh, which is 9 % less than in the previous month, according to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia.

At the same time, consumption reached 1,110 GWh, which is a 12 % decrease compared to January, and 8 % higher compared to February 2020. In February, production in thermal power plants increased by 5 % compared to the same month in 2020, production in hydropower plants increased by 83 %, while production at NPP Krsko dropped by 3 %. In February 2021, Slovenia imported 665 GWh (13 % less compared to February 2020) of electricity and exported 796 GWh (+ 30 %). Supply of energy commodities in general went down in February, except from the supply of kerosene which rose by 46 %, petrol by 11 % and diesel by 8 %. Compared to the previous month, a decrease in supply of lignite and brown coal (24 %) was recorded, as well as natural gas (14 %), heating oil (13 %), coke (12 %), hard coal (11 %) and LPG (7 %).

Compared to February 2020, the supply of hard coal decreased by 63 %, kerosene by 30 %, petrol by 29 %, coke by 18 %, LPG by 8 % and diesel by 6 %.
