Slovenia: Higher electricity production in August

Slovenia’s net electricity generation in August 2020 was increased by 18 % compared to the same month last year, according to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia. In August 2020, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,357 GWh, which is 6 % less than in the previous month. At the same time, consumption reached 1,052 GWh, which is a 2 % decrease compared to July 2020, and 6 % lower compared to August 2019. In August, production in thermal power plants increased by 17 % compared to the same month in 2019, production in hydropower plants increased by 53 %, while production at nuclear power plant Krsko was 1 % higher. In August 2020, Slovenia imported 467 GWh (- 28 % compared to August 2019) of electricity and exported 743 GWh (+ 15 %).Supply of energy commodities in general went down in August, except from the supply of kerosene which rose by 22 % and petrol by 9 %. Compared to the previous month, a decrease in supply of other petroleum products (39 %) was recorded, as well as coke (24 %), heating oil (18 %), lignite and brown coal (15 %), LPG (14 %), hard coal (7 %) and diesel (7 %).

Compared to August 2019, the supply of kerosene decreased by 79 %, heating oil by 65 %, coke by 28 %, other petroleum products by 23 %, LPG by 21 %, natural gas by 10 %, diesel by 8 % and petrol by 7 %.
