Slovenia, Electricity generation dropped by 24 % in August

According to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia, country’s net electricity generation in August 2022 decreased by 24 % compared to the same month last year.

In August 2022, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,013 GWh, which is 1 % less than in the previous month. In August, production in thermal power plants decreased by 25 % compared to the same month in 2021, production in hydropower plants decreased by 51 %, while NPP Krsko production was 3 % lower. In August 2022, Slovenia imported 604 GWh (11 % more compared to August 2021) of electricity and exported 599 GWh (- 23 %).

In August 2022, households consumed 235 GWh of electricity, while the consumption of commercial consumers amounted to 628 GWh.

Supply of energy commodities in general went down in August, except from the supply of heating oil which rose by 68 %, diesel by 3 % and lignite and brown coal by 1 %. Compared to the previous month, a decrease in supply of hard coal (20 %) was recorded, as well as LPG (15 %), other petroleum products (12 %), natural gas (9 %), coke (3 %), kerosene (3 %) and petrol (2 %).

Compared to August 2021, the supply of hard coal decreased by 59 %, lignite and brown coal by 29 %, other petroleum products by 27 %, natural gas by 13 % and heating oil by 6 %.
