Slovenia, Country’s net electricity generation in May decreased by 15 %

According to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia, country’s net electricity generation in May 2022 decreased by 15 % compared to the same month last year.

In May 2022, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,160 GWh, which is 6 % less than in the previous month. In May, production in thermal power plants increased by 22 % compared to the same month in 2021, production in hydropower plants decreased by 49 %, while NPP Krsko production was 22 % higher. In May 2022, Slovenia imported 872 GWh (51 % more compared to May 2021) of electricity and exported 912 GWh (+ 17 %).

Supply of energy commodities in general went down in May, except from the supply of other petroleum products which rose by 35 %, hard coal by 10 % and kerosene by 6 %. Compared to the previous month, a decrease in supply of lignite and brown coal (39 %) was recorded, as well as heating oil (30 %), natural gas (27 %), diesel (20 %), LPG (15 %) and petrol (6 %).

Compared to May 2021, the supply of hard coal decreased by 52 %, natural gas by 21 %, other petroleum products by 14 %, LPG by 6 % and lignite and brown coal by 5 %.
