The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) said that district heating utility of the city of Šabac in western Serbia has completed the installation of a 3 kW solar power plant on the roof of its office building, thus becoming the first utility to do this.

The statement from the UNDP said that Toplana Sabac implemented the project with the support of energy cooperative Sunny Roofs Sabac. The cooperative was founded in November 2019 under the Climate Smart Urban Development Challenge (CSUD) financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and is the first energy cooperative in Serbia.
