Serbia: SEEPEX sees 3.8% increase in February 2025 electricity trading volumes

In February 2025, the Serbian energy exchange SEEPEX recorded a total of 473,126.1 MWh of electricity traded on the day-ahead market, marking a 3.8% increase compared to the previous month, with an average daily trading volume of 16,897.4 MWh. This represents a significant 43.6% year-on-year growth from February 2024.

The average daily base price on the day-ahead market for February stood at 154.66 euros/MWh, a rise of 10.8% from January. Meanwhile, the average euro-peak price was 162.92 euros/MWh, reflecting a 5% increase.

On the intraday market, a total of 13,328 MWh was traded in February, with the average price set at 162.56 euros/MWh. SEEPEX, which officially launched on 17 February 2016 with an initial trading volume of 1,925 MWh, is jointly owned by Serbia’s electricity transmission system operator EMS and the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT). The exchange aims to foster a competitive, transparent, and reliable electricity market in Serbia and the broader southeastern European region. SEEPEX expanded its offerings with the introduction of the intraday market in July 2023.
