Romania’s top oil and gas company, OMV Petrom, has resumed fuel production at its Petrobrazi refinery near Ploiesti after a scheduled 20-day shutdown. The pause was used for inspections, infrastructure upgrades, and maintenance work worth around 20 million euros.
A key part of the overhaul included installing a new catalyst in the diesel hydrotreater unit and replacing catalysts in other processing units to maintain fuel quality standards. Routine maintenance also involved thorough cleaning of essential installations, including the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit and the coker unit.
The operation involved over 25 main contractors and more than 50 subcontractors, with approximately 1,300 workers on-site daily. These comprehensive maintenance cycles occur at least once every two years to ensure the refinery’s efficiency and safety.
