Romania, OMV Petrom and Tinmar Energy to help EC Oltenia with its restructuring

CEO of Romanian coal-based electricity producer Energy Complex (EC) Oltenia Daniel Burlan said that the company received three offers for the construction of eight solar power plants and one offer for the construction of gas-fired unit at TPP Turceni, all part of its recently approved restructuring and decarbonization plan worth 2.66 billion euros.

Regarding solar power plants, Burlan said that two offers have been accepted, one from OMV Petrom for partnership in the construction of four solar power plants with combined installed capacity of 455 MW, and the other from Tinmar Energy for the construction of four solar power plants with combined capacity of 286 MW.

Tinmar Energy was also selected as a partner for the construction of 475 MW gas-fired unit at TPP Turceni, which would replace the existing coalfired unit (330 MW).

However, there were no offers for the construction of gas-fired units with combined capacity of 850 MW at TPP Isalnita, which are supposed to replace two coal-fired units (330 MW each). Burlan said that the tender will be relaunched by the end of February.
