Romania: Increase of average day-ahead OPCOM price in June

In June this year, the average price of electricity on day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM amounted to 76.95 euros/MWh, which is 153.81 % higher compared to the same month in 2020 and 30.99 % higher compared to the previous month, when average baseload price amounted to 58.74 euros/MWh. Traded volume in June reached 2.176 million MWh, which is 9.08 % more than in June 2020, and 8.03 % less than in May 2021. Average traded volume in June 2021 amounted to 3,022.9 MWh/h. The total value of transactions in June amounted to 166.93 million euros, which is by 170.6 % more compared to June last year (61.69 million euros) and 17.96 % more than in the previous month (141.51 million euros). The share of day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in June 2021 amounted to 50.76 %. A total of 103,130.2 MWh was traded on intraday market in June (242.47 % more than in June 2020, and 17.11 % less compared to May 2021), with an average price of 78.36 euros/MWh (140.37 % higher compared to June 2020 and 30.08 % higher compared to the previous month). Total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in June amounted to 1.185 million MWh, with an average price of 52.29 euros/MWh.
