Romania: For acquisition in the next three years Hidroelectrica allocated 722 million euros

Hidroelectrica, the largest electricity producer in the country, has allocated some 722.5 million euros for acquisition in the next three years.

This year’s budget for acquisitions amounts to 267 million euros, out of which 253 million is planned for acquisitions of electricity generation capacities. For the same purpose, the company has planned some 253 million euros in 2022 and 2023. The acquisitions budget is in line with the company’s ambitions, which last year announced investment plan worth more than 5 billion euros.

Regarding renewables, the company then announced that it intends to acquire/develop 600 MW of installed wind capacity by 2026 and an additional 50 to 100 MW of solar capacity. Recently, Hidroelectrica failed to acquire the 600 MW wind farm owned by Czech CEZ, in a consortium with Electrica and SAPE. On the other hand, Hidroelectrica bought the 108 MW wind farm Crucea from the German company STEAG at the end of last year, which is the first major acquisition realized by the company.

In March, Hidroelectrica announced a tender for a legal consultant to support the takeover of Portland Trust Renewables 1, which owns a 131 MW solar project in Arges county. The project is still in development, but it already received connection approval from Transelectrica.
