Romania: Eurowind Energy expands wind portfolio with 138 MW project pipeline

Eurowind Energy Romania has announced three new onshore wind projects—Frumusita, Vector, and Pecineaga NorthEst—adding a combined capacity of 138 megawatts (MW) to its growing portfolio. The projects will utilize 23 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines from the EnVentus platform, strengthening the ongoing partnership between the Danish firms in the Romanian renewable energy sector.

Turbine delivery is scheduled for late 2026, with the projects expected to become operational in 2027. The Frumusita site in Galati County will include eleven turbines generating 66 MW. In Constanta County, Pecineaga NorthEst will deploy eight turbines with a total capacity of 48 MW, while the Vector project will consist of four turbines producing 24 MW.

Under the agreement, Vestas will supply, install, and maintain the turbines for 20 years through its Active Output Management 5000 service program. This long-term maintenance plan is designed to ensure consistent performance and reliability. The deal reinforces Vestas’s strong presence in Romania, where the company has installed over 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of wind capacity since 2009 and services more than 1.2 GW through its five service centers and a regional training hub employing over 550 professionals.

Romania’s favorable investment climate for renewables—bolstered by recent legal reforms, upcoming Contracts for Difference (CfD) auctions, and planned grid upgrades—continues to attract major industry players. Active in the Romanian market since 2011, Eurowind Energy currently operates four solar power plants in Halchiu, Magurele, Pufesti, and Teius. With approximately 7.5 GW of renewable energy projects under development, the company expects to increase its operational capacity to 124 MW by the end of 2025.
