Industrial electricity consumption reached 12.68 TWh, showing a slight decline of 0.2% from the previous year. Household consumption rose by 5.5%, totaling 4.14 TWh. Meanwhile, public lighting consumption decreased by 7.4%, amounting to approximately 142 GWh.

Total electricity production during this period was 17.05 TWh, which is 12.4% lower than in 2024. Production at thermal power plants dropped by 2.2% to 6 TWh. Hydropower generation saw a significant decrease of 33.9%, falling to 3.89 TWh, while nuclear power production at the Cernavoda plant declined by 1.2% to 3.94 TWh. Wind power output decreased by 19.2% to 2.13 TWh compared to the same period last year. In contrast, solar power production increased by 31.1%, reaching 1.09 TWh.

Electricity exports amounted to 4.44 TWh in the first four months of 2025, up by 6.4% from 2024. Imports, however, rose sharply by 81.6%, totaling 6.17 TWh.

Regarding primary energy resources, total production in the same period was 5,917.1 million tons of oil equivalent, representing a 5% decline compared to 2024. Coal production slightly decreased by 0.7% to 629.6 million tons of oil equivalent. Oil production dropped by 7.1%, reaching 840 million tons of oil equivalent, and natural gas production fell by 1.4% to 2,532.4 million tons of oil equivalent.
