Romania: Econergy commissions 87 MW Oradea solar power plant, expands renewable portfolio to 447 MW

Econergy Renewable Energy has commissioned its 87 MW Oradea solar power plant, increasing the company’s connected and ready-to-connect portfolio in Romania to 447 MW.

The Oradea facility is Econergy’s fourth operational solar asset in the country. The project was developed in partnership with Phoenix Holdings, which has committed over 225 million euros to Econergy’s initiatives in Romania and Poland.

A 68 MW co-located battery energy storage system is planned for the Oradea site to boost revenues, provide grid balancing services, and optimize energy offtake.

Across Romania, Econergy reports 788 MW of renewable energy capacity currently under construction and anticipates starting an additional 559 MW by the end of 2025. Financing discussions for the Oradea storage system are well advanced, as the company continues to implement a strategy that combines renewable generation with storage to enhance project value.
