Romania, Delgaz Grid to invest 5.7 million euros in modernization of three substations

Romanian electricity and natural gas distributor Delgaz Grid, a local subsidiary of German E.ON, said that it will invest 5.7 million euros in the modernization of three 110/20 kV substations in Suceava, Dorohoi and Bucecea counties.

The statement from the company said that the project involves the replacement of high and medium voltage equipment, following a European co-financing of 4.1 million euros. Also, the necessary conditions will be created for the integration in SCADA system of the three transformer stations.

The main objective of the works is to increase the security of taking over the electricity produced from renewable resources by reducing the number of interruptions, reducing the amount of undelivered electricity and reducing the maintenance costs of the distribution network. At the same time, the quality of the distribution service will be improved for almost 50,000 customers who are supplied through the stations included in the project.

The investment is co-financed with some 4.1 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund REACT-EU and the difference of 1.6 million euros is the contribution of Delgaz Grid.

Accessing European funding sources is a priority for Delgaz Grid in order to achieve the objectives of modernizing and digitizing the electricity distribution infrastructure. At the moment, seven projects, worth about 37 million euros, with a co- financing of over 28 million euros, are in different stages of implementation.
