Romania, DAM’s share in net consumption decreased to 36 percent, with a volume of 2.3 TWh in February

The total volume of trade on the Romanian day-ahead electricity market, OPCOM DAM, in February 2023 was 2.282 million MWh, which is 32 percent less compared to the same month of the previous year (1.553 million MWh in February 2022), according to the monthly report stock exchange operator.

Compared to January 2023, the volume decreased by 24 percent in February. The average trade volume was 2,311 MWh per hour.

The share of DAM in the predicted net national consumption was 36.6 percent, which is 27 percent less than in February last year. On a monthly basis, the share of DAM decreased by 18 percent.

The average price for base load at DAM in February was 142.5 euros per MWh, which is 24 percent less compared to the same month last year (188.5 euros per MWh in February 2022). On a monthly basis, the price increased by 5 percent, from 136.2 euros per MWh in January.

The value of transactions on OPCOM DAM in February decreased on an annual basis by 50 percent, to 218.9 million euros.

The weighted average intraday market price, OPCOM IDM, was 143.75 euros per MWh in February, which is 2 percent less than in January 2023 (147.17 euros per MWh). The volume of trade on IDM decreased by 11 percent, to 86,753 MWh (from 97,943 MWh in January), according to the February OPCOM report.
