Romania, BSOG announced the completion of the installation of natural gas production platform in the Black Sea

Black Sea Oil & Gas (BSOG), owned by Carlyle International Energy Partners and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), announced the completion of the installation of Ana natural gas production platform in the Romanian Black Sea.

The production was previously scheduled to start by the end of this year, but delays in the works on the onshore gas treatment plant will delay the first deliveries of gas until early next year.

BSOG has as concession partners Petro Ventures Resources and Gas Plus Dacia. Ana is the first platform built and installed in Romania over the last 30 years.

After the installation of the submarine pipeline and the supporting structure of the platform in the first half of 2021, the last component of the platform – the deck assembly, was successfully installed approximately 120 kilometers from the shore, on the Ana deposit, in waters with a depth of 70 meters, by Romanian oil services company GSP.

However, BSOG said that there are significant delays at the gas treatment plant near Vadu, which, most likely, will not allow the of launch gas production this year, as it was originally scheduled.

The estimated production capacity of the Ana platform is 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year, the equivalent of about 10 % of Romania’s gas consumption. French Engie group has already contracted the production for the first ten years.

Black Sea Oil & Gas (BSOG), wholly owned by Carlyle International Energy Partners, is a Romanian independent oil and gas company, which targets exploration and development of conventional oil and gas resources. The company’s portfolio consists of XV Midia Shallow Block and XIII Pelican Block in the Romanian Black Sea, where the company is the operator and holds 65 % stake.

In early 2019, BSOG announced that it has approved the final investment decision to proceed with the 400 million dollars Midia Gas Development Project in the Black Sea. The Midia gas Project consists of 5 production wells (1 subsea well at Doina field and 4 platform wells at Ana field) a subsea gas production system over the Doina well which will be connected through an 18 kilometers long pipeline with a new unmanned production platform located over Ana field. A 126 kilometers gas pipeline will link the Ana platform to the shore. The processed gas will then be delivered into the national transmission system.
