North Macedonia, Unit 1 of TPP Bitola taken offline for the weekend

Unit 1 of coal-fired thermal power plant Bitola has been taken offline in the night between 17 and 18 November.

State-owned power utility ESM said that the unit’s shutdown was planned and is made in order to repair the condenser and part of the unit’s piping system.

The company said that the weekend was chosen due to lower electricity consumption and it is expected that unit 1 will be back online in the morning hours of 21 November. The electricity produced by unit 1 will be compensated by increased production of other capacities as well as electricity imports that have already been contracted.
