North Macedonia: Electricity production reached 550 GWh in November

Gross electricity production in North Macedonia increased by 11.5% in November 2023 compared to the same month previous year, to 550,205 MWh.

In the same period, electricity output rose by 11.5%, to 518,205 MWh, Makstat said in a press release.

Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production, generating 267,577 MWh, up 9.5% compared to the same month in 2022. Hydropower plants generated 132,736 MWh (+23.5%).

Wind energy production went up 108.8% to 16,124 MWh in November 2023, while solar parks produced 6,543 MWh, up from 1.289 MWh in November 2022.

Electricity generated by cogeneration plants and auto-production thermal power stations totalled 121,595 MWh (-8.2%). Biogas plants generated 5,631 MWh of electricity in November 2023.

Macedonia’s electricity imports increased to 167,110 MWh in November 2023 from 147,479 MWh in November 2022. Electricity exports totalled 107,014 MWh, compared to 86,486 MWh exported in the same month of last year.

Distribution losses increased 6% on the year to 120,933 MWh.
