Montenegro: Production at coalmine Pljevlja increased by 8% in 2023

Pljevlja coalmine produced 1.86 million tons of coal in 2023, which is 8.1% higher compared to the previous year.

The colamine supplied the thermal power plant Pljevlja with 1.64 million tons of coal, which was 7% above the plan.

The coalmine and TPP Pljevlja are owned and operated by power utility EPCG.

Pljevlja coalmine recorded a net profit of some 9.4 million euros in 2022, significantly higher compared to a 3.7 million euros profit in the same period last year.

Coalmine’s sales revenues reached 54.7 million euros at the end of 2022, which is 25.7% more than in 2021. At the same time, operating expenses rose by 28.4 %, reaching 27.1 million euros.
