Hungary: Traded volume on HUPX DAM reached 26 TWh in 2023

The traded volume reached 26.05 TWh on the HUPX day-ahead market in 2023.

In December, HUPX recorded a 34% increase in turnover compared to the same month of 2022. In 2023, the increasing solar electricity production (+35 % year-on-year) significantly impacted the prices of the HUPX day-ahead market.

The intraday market recorded a 58% increase in 2023 with 6.85 TWh annual traded volume. In June, the monthly volume of the intraday market nearly doubled compared to 2022, reaching 671 GWh.

Last year, 15 new members joined the intraday market, while 14 new members joined the day-ahead market, nearly doubling the number of new entrants in 2022.
