Hungary, MOL plans to reach 600 petrol stations in Poland in five years

Head of consumer services at Hungarian oil and gas company MOL Peter Ratatics said at the opening ceremony of the first rebranded petrol station in Poland that the company is planning to expand its network in the country to 600 stations in five years.

According to Ratatics, the Polish fuel market is very competitive, with very low margins, adding that the process of rebranding of station in Poland will take up to two years.

Last year, MOL concluded the acquisition of 410 petrol stations in Poland as part of a 610 million dollars deal with PKN Orlen and Lotos Group. MOL already operates a number of petrol station in the south of the country under Slovnaft Poland brand, which will also be rebranded, bringing the total number of MOL petrol stations in Poland to around 500.

At the end of 2022, PKN Orlen was the market leader with 1,920 petrol stations. BP was second with 574 petrol stations, followed by MOL (around 500 in total) and Shell with 455.
