A report from the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH) highlights that household gas and electricity prices in Hungary are considerably lower than in neighboring countries, with an even larger gap compared to other European Union member states.
For instance, household gas prices in Prague are four times higher than in Hungary, nearly four times higher in Warsaw, and two and a half times higher in both Bratislava and Bucharest. In Stockholm, residents pay 13 times more for gas than in Hungary.
When it comes to household electricity, prices in Czechia are four times higher than in Hungary, two and a half times higher in Poland, twice as high in Slovakia, and nearly double in Romania. In Germany, household electricity prices are 4.5 times higher than in Hungary.
