Greece: Record low bid at RES auction for SPP

A total of five major RES projects, four solar power plants and one wind farm, secured tariffs at the auction. The auction’s average bidding price was 51.59 euros/MWh, which is significantly lower compared to previous auctions.

The mixed RES auction held on 2 April produced a record-low bid of 49.11 euros/MWh, submitted by PPC Renewables for a 200 MW solar power plant in Kozani in northern Greece.

The auction’s only wind energy project, ENTEKA’s 153 MW facility in Vermio in northern Greece, recorded the lowest price so far for wind power of 54.7 euros/MWh. This project involves funding from US fund Quantum Energy Partners.

EREN’s 70 MW solar power plant project secured a price of 50.68 euros/MWh. A 42 MW project by EDF recorded a price of 50.87 euros/MWh, while Spes Solaris, a member of the Panagakos Group, secured a price of 54.82 euros MWh for its 37.94 MW solar project.

A total of four projects, two solar and two wind, failed to secure prices. ENTEKA missed out with its two wind farm projects with 72 MW and 63 MW capacity. A 50 MW solar power plant by PPC Renewables and a 23 MW solar power plant by EDF also did not succeed at this RES auction.
