Greece: Eunice Energy obtained an environmental permit for a 250 MW battery storage project

Eunice Energy has obtained an environmental permit for the installation of a 250 MW/1,000 MWh battery energy storage system in the Arcadia region. The battery storage system should help stabilize the electricity network in the region and allow the integration of more renewable generation capacity.

The facility will consist of 75 lithium-ion battery units covering a total area of roughly 112,157 square meters. The system will have a rated capacity of 292.9 MW/1,174 MWh and will be operated at 250 MW/1,000 MWh.

The project also envisages the installation of a new substation and overhead transmission lines. Eunice is developing the Arcadia project along with an identical project in Ptolemaida in Macedonia region. The two projects represent an investment of over 560 million euros
