Greece: Commission of Kozani solar complex

The first 15 MW of solar power complex in Kozani in Western Macedonia has been commissioned, said the renewables arm of Greek state-controlled Public Power Corporation – PPC Renewables.

The statement from the company said that the project construction is progressing gradually and it should be completed within 18 months. The company will invest 130 million euros in the Kozani project, which is being installed in three phases and will be the largest one of its kind in the country. Last May, PPC Renewables decided to award two contracts for the construction of 15 MW solar power plants in Kozani to METKA and Terna. The two solar power plants will be built on the site of depleted lignite mines of the parent company, with the construction launched in the summer.

In December, PPC Renewables selected METKA as the contractor for the construction of its 200 MW solar power plant in Kozani in northern Greece, the remainder of the 230 MW complex.
