Europe: CO2 emission rights futures reached the 28-month minimum

Settlement prices of CO2 emission rights futures in the EEX market for the reference contract of December 2024, during the third week of February, remained below €60/t. These futures continued the downward trend of the previous week to reach their weekly minimum settlement price, €56.43/t, on Tuesday, February 13.

According to data analyzed at AleaSoft Energy Forecasting, this settlement price was 11% lower than the previous Tuesday and the lowest since October 2021.

On Wednesday and Thursday prices recovered slightly, but on Friday, February 16, they declined again. On that day, the settlement price was €57.17/t, 2.7% lower than the previous Friday.
