Croatia, Volume at CROPEX DAM 5.59 TWh in 2022.

The volume of trade on the Croatian day-ahead market in 2022 was 5,590,392 MWh, which is 6 percent less compared to 5,967,193 MWh in 2021, according to the annual report of the CROPEX exchange operator.

The highest monthly volume last year was 696,193 MWh, and the average monthly volume was 456,866 MWh. On a daily basis, an average of 15,316 MWh was traded.

The volume of trade on the tile market (SDAC), via the Croatian-Slovenian and Croatian-Hungarian borders, amounted to a total of 3,913,994 MWh.

The average annual price for base load in 2022 was 272.4 euros per MWh, which is 138 percent more than in 2021 – 114.7 euros per MWh. The average price for peak load increased in 2022 by 130 percent, to 291.2 euros per MWh.

The highest average monthly price was recorded in August – 493.7 euros per MWh, and the lowest in April – 192.5 euros per MWh.

After capping through SIDC, the Croatian intraday market continued to grow in 2022, recording record volumes on an annual, monthly and daily basis.

Also, after the successful introduction of the API service, an increase in the number of API traders was recorded in 2022, resulting in a 13 percent share of API trade in total trade.

The total volume on the market within the day of CROPEX increased compared to 2021 by 68 percent, to 815,576 MWh. The highest monthly volume was 110,496 MWh, and the average monthly volume was 67,965 MWh.

The average daily trade volume was 2,230 MWh.

The weighted average price on CROPEX IDM in 2022 was 268.4 euros per MWh, which is 133 percent more compared to the previous year (38.3 euros per MWh in 2021).

Similar to DAM, the highest average price for IDM was achieved in August – 485.87 euros per MWh. The lowest monthly price was recorded in February – 189.78 euros per MWh.

In 2022, 100 percent of the offered guarantees of origin were sold on the CROPEX stock exchange, i.e. a total of 1,494,833 MWh.

At the end of 2022, three auctions were also held to cover losses in the Croatian transmission network, organized by HOPS. At the auctions, 5 MWh/h were purchased, according to the CROPEX annual report.
