A total volume of 863,763.4 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in December 2021, which is 61.7 % more than in November, of which 591,550.1 MWh on the day-ahead market and 72,213.3 MWh on the intradaymarket. Traded volume in December 2021 was 41 % higher compared to the same month last year.
December 2021 volumes were the highest recorded traded volumes on both day-ahead and intraday markets since their launch. 2021 also saw the largest annual volume on the intraday market (486,960 MWh).
Average daily base price on day-ahead market in December amounted to 251.87 euros/MWh, which is 16.6 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 295.23 euros/MWh, 20 % higher compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 246.01 euros/MWh, 14.7 % higher compared to November.
There are 27 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market (four more compared to the previous month), eighteen of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in December amounted to 25,533.9 MWh.
CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June 2018, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
