Croatia: Successful completion of first exploration phase in SAVA-07 block, hydrocarbon discoveries at all wells

The first phase of exploration in the onshore SAVA-07 block, carried out by Vermilion Zagreb Exploration and INA, has concluded successfully, with hydrocarbon discoveries made at all four wells. While testing has been completed for three of the wells, the final test is still in progress for the fourth.

Located primarily in Sisak-Moslavina county, the exploration area has yielded promising results. The Zbjegovaca-1I well has confirmed the presence of both oil and gas, with daily production capacities of 50 cubic meters of oil and 7,240 cubic meters of gas. The Medjuric-1I well has identified multiple gas reservoirs, yielding a daily production capacity of 129,746 cubic meters of gas. The Gojlo-1J well has also confirmed gas presence, producing 82,293 cubic meters per day during testing. The Piljenice-1 well has shown significant gas potential in deeper reservoirs, although testing is still ongoing.

A commercial discovery report for the Zbjegovaca-1I, Medjuric-1I, and Gojlo-1J wells has already been submitted to the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency.

In March 2024, INA and Vermilion Zagreb Exploration signed a cooperation agreement for the SAVA-07 block, with Vermilion holding a 60% stake and serving as the operator, while INA acquired a 40% share. Moving forward, the partners will work together on a joint field development plan to expedite production and leverage INA’s nearby facilities. Furthermore, both companies have agreed to proceed with the second phase of exploration, with additional exploratory activities slated for 2025 and 2026.
