Croatia sees surge in solar power connections, reaching 776 MW

According to data from electricity distribution system operator HEP ODS, as of November 30, 2024, Croatia had 19,022 household solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 134.373 MW.

The growing interest in solar energy for personal use is reflected in the high number of completed connection requests. By the same date, a total of 25,406 solar power plants had been connected to the distribution network, with a combined capacity of 776.033 MW.

Of this total, 19,022 installations (134.373 MW) were in the household category, with 18,709 systems (132.446 MW) operating under the self-supply system. Meanwhile, 6,384 solar power plants were connected in the business sector, contributing 641.66 MW, including 366 plants (13.943 MW) under the self-supply model.

In the first 11 months of 2024 alone, 9,821 new solar power plants were added to the HEP ODS distribution network, totaling 290.012 MW. This included 8,143 household installations (62.173 MW) and 1,678 business-sector plants (251.360 MW).

The data highlights Croatia’s accelerating transition toward solar energy, with both households and businesses increasingly adopting renewable power solutions.
