Croatia, Koncar Elektroindustrija has signed a contract for the construction of 1.5 MW SHPP Otocac

Croatian electricity equipment manufacturer Koncar Elektroindustrija announced that it has signed a contract for the construction of 1.5 MW small hydropower plant (SHPP) Otocac with local company Male Hidre, a joint venture of state-owned power utility HEP and Koncar’s renewable energy subsidiary.

The 12 million euros project will be developed in cooperation with Koncar Inzenjering, another company under the Koncar Group’s umbrella. The estimated annual electricity generation is around 6.9 million kWh.

The statement from the company said that the SHPP will be built next to the drainage channel of the Lika-Gacka tunnel, through which the waters of the Lika river are transferred to the Gacka river and will further enhance the usability of the Lika river, which feeds the existing HPP Senj. The majority of the equipment for the plant will be manufactured by various companies within the Koncar Group.
