Croatia: Electricity output falls in June 2025 as imports and petroleum production rise

Croatia’s net electricity production in June 2025 amounted to 905 GWh, marking a 5.3% decrease compared to 956 GWh in June 2024, according to short-term energy statistics published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

Hydropower plants generated 370 GWh, accounting for 38.7% of total output. Thermal power plants produced 74 GWh (7.7%), wind farms 212 GWh (22.2%), and solar power plants 176 GWh (18.4%).

During the same month, Croatia imported 1,267 GWh of electricity, a 7% decline compared to 1,362 GWh in June 2024, while exports dropped by 25.2%, from 773 GWh last year to 578 GWh.

In hydrocarbons, natural gas production reached 61 million cubic meters, 1.6% less than in June 2024. Imports of natural gas rose by 8% year-on-year to 190 million cubic meters. Crude oil production totaled 38,000 tons, down 5% compared to last year. Petroleum product output increased to 299,000 tons, up from 266,000 tons in June 2024.
