Bulgaria, Production of electricity in May decreased by 12 %

According to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, production of electricity in May 2022 decreased by 12 %, compared to April, to 3,624 GWh, while consumption of electricity dropped by 6.7 % on monthly basis and amounted to 2,457 GWh. Consumption of natural gas in May 2022 decreased by 1 % and amounted to 200 million cubic meters, while its production remained the same and amounted to 2 million cubic meters.

Compared to May 2021, production of electricity increased by 8.4 %, while its consumption rose by 1.9 %. Consumption of natural gas decreased by 14.5 % compared to May 2021, while its production remained the same.

In May, production of unleaded petrol rose by 15.9 % and amounted to 160,000 tons, while its consumption increased by 41.9 % and amounted to 44,000 tons. Production of diesel in May increased by 25.3 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 297,000 tons, while its consumption increased by 4.2 % and amounted to 200,000 tons.

Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remained the same and amounted to 34,000 tons, while its production increased by 28.6 % and amounted to 9,000 tons. In the same period, production of solid fuels increased by 7.8 % to 2,790 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource dropped by 7.8 % to 2,836 thousand tons.
