Bulgaria, Natural gas supply has been secured only for September

Bulgarian caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Hristo Alexiev said after the meeting of the Energy Crisis Taskforce (ECT) that natural gas supply has been secured for September, but not from October onward.

He said that the ECT has been working for just three weeks, and its is also overseeing the completion of the Greece-Bulgaria natural gas interconnector and the financial stabilization of public supplier Bulgargaz.

Caretaker Minister of Energy Rossen Hristov said that negotiations are beginning with Azerbaijan for the supply of additional amounts of natural gas, adding that he expects positive outcome of the negotiations in the coming weeks.

According to him, Turkish companies have shown interest in supplying pipeline-carried gas to Bulgaria, and expected that negotiations with these companies will start later this week.

He also confirmed that only one shipload of liquefied natural gas from the US will be supplied to Bulgaria. It will be unloaded at an agreed slot in Turkey. According to him, Bulgaria will have no choice but to hold negotiations with Russian Gazprom if no other alternative is provided.
