Bulgaria: KEVR approves 2.9% increase in wholesale natural gas prices for October

The Bulgarian Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR) has approved a 2.9% increase in the wholesale natural gas price for October 2024, raising it to approximately 32.6 euros/MWh, excluding VAT and excise duties. This follows a previous 1.9% increase for September.

According to KEVR’s statement, nearly 71% of Bulgaria’s natural gas consumption in October will be supplied by Azerbaijan through the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector. Additionally, Bulgargaz has secured two liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply contracts, and the gas supply for the month will also include gas from the Chiren underground storage facility. The gas mix for October will further incorporate supplies from the Alexandroupoli LNG terminal in Greece, which is set to commence operations on October 1.
