Bulgaria: Electricity production reached 13.8 TWh in 2024

Electricity generation in Bulgaria between January 1 and May 5 has decreased by 12.% compared to 2023, to 13.77 TWh, according to the data published by electricity transmission system operator ESO.

In the same period, electricity consumption decreased by 4. % to 13.43 TWh while electricity imports amounted to 336 GWh. Baseload power plants (coal, nuclear) produced 10.69 TWh of electricity (-19%).

The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources in the transmission network rose by 44% to 959.2 GWh, while RES share in the distribution network increased by 26% to 980.2 GWh.
