Bulgaria: Decreased electricity production in February

Production of electricity in February 2020 decreased by 4.5 % compared to January, to 3,781 GWh, while consumption of electricity also dropped by 13 % on monthly basis and amounted to 3,199 GWh, according to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute.

Consumption of natural gas in February 2020 decreased by 12.2 % and amounted to 316 million cubic meters, while its production fell by 16.7 % to 5 million cubic meters.

Compared to February 2019, production of electricity decreased by 8.9 %, while its consumption rose by 1.6 %. Consumption of natural gas decreased by 2.5 % compared to February 2019. In February, production of unleaded petrol decreased by 7.4 % and amounted to 138,000 tons, while its consumption dropped by 30 % and amounted to 28,000 tons. Production of diesel in February decreased by 1.2 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 256,000 tons, while its consumption also dropped by 16.2 % and amounted to 150,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) decreased by 20.9 % and amounted to 34,000 tons, while its production remained the same and amounted to 10,000 tons. At the same period, production of solid fuels increased by 2.6 % to 2,431 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource also rose by 2.8 % to 2,495 thousand tons.
