Bosnia and Herzegovina, RS to decrease RES fees by 90 %

The fee for encouraging electricity production from renewable energy sources in the Republic of Srpska (RS) will be reduced by 90 % in 2023.

The Energy Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Srpska (RERS) proposed that the fee should be reduced from current 0.0032 euros/kWh to 0.00035 euros/kWh as of 1 January 2023.

The fee was paid by all consumers through their electricity bills. This reduction means that the average residential consumers with monthly consumption 500 kWh will pay 1.4 euros less for consumed electricity.

The change was due to the fact that RES producers are leaving the support program in order to be able to sell electricity at market prices, which they could not do while they were included in the system.

RERS Chairman Vladislav Vladicic said that with extremely high market prices, state incentives for electricity production from renewable sources are not relevant anymore and producers prefer to sell electricity on the market.
