Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,519 GWh in December 2022

According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,519 GWh in December 2022, compared to 1,808 GWh in the same month last year.

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 38.6 %, thermal power plants with 59.3 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.1 %.

Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 572 GWh in December 2022, which is by 28.9 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 813 GWh, which is 3.3 % less than last December. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 31 GWh, 40 % less compared to December 2021.

Electricity imports rose by 63.8 % to 416 GWh in December from last year’s 254 GWh, while exports dropped by 13.6 % to 716 GWh (829 GWh in December 2021).

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 603,000 tons in December 2022, which is by 10.5 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 9.1 % and amounted to 462,000 tons.

Natural gas imports in December 2022 amounted to 29.36 million cubic meters, 17.4 % less compared to a year before (35.55 million cubic meters).
