Bosnia and Herzegovina, EIA applications submitted for 72.6 wind farm Gradina

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) said that it has received an application for conducting of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) study for 72.6 MW wind farm Gradina near Tomislavgrad. The application was submitted by local company VE Gradina.

VE Gradina is owned by Croatian C.E.M.P. which was founded by construction machinery trader Lager. Lager already owns one operational wind project – 142 MW Krs-Padjene wind farm near Knin in Croatia.

The future wind farm will consist of 11 wind turbines with 6.6 MW output each (most likely Siemens-Gamesa SG 155-6.6) and will be built near the existing Mesihovina wind farm, operated by power utility EP HZHB.

In early 2020, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) said that it has given approval for the issuance of preliminary energy permit to local company VE Gradina for the construction of Gradina wind farm.

Initially, in early 2016, VE Gradina signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese companies CMEC and CAIDC on the construction of 112 MW wind farm, which was supposed to be put into operation by the end of 2017. However, there were problems with obtaining the necessary licenses and Chinese investors backed out of the project.
