BiH: RiTE Ugljevik ordered to pay an additional 58 million euros to HSE

RiTe Ugljevik is obligated to pay an additional 57.8 million euros in interest to Slovenian company Elektrogospodarstvo (now HSE) besides the 67 million euros, according to the court ruling.

An arbitration tribunal in Belgrade issued a final judgment in July in response to the lawsuit regarding undelivered electricity, ordering RiTE Ugljevik to pay 67 million euros as compensation to HSE and to supply one-third of the electricity it produces to the Slovenian company.

The ruling said that the decision on the interest amount would be made at a later date.

In October, it was decided that RiTE Ugljevik has to pay 57.8 million euros in interest, within 30 days.

The Acting Director of RiTE Ugljevik Diko Cvijetinovic confirmed this information. He expects a solution for the payment of this debt and the initiation of electricity supply to the Slovenian company by the end of the year.

He said that the company is unable to pay the total amount at once and, along with parent company ERS, is currently negotiating a solution acceptable to both sides.

Belgrade arbitration court ruled that RiTE Ugljevik had to pay 67 million euros in compensation to Slovenian state-owned electricity producer HSE. The court found that the Slovenian company is entitled to compensation for electricity not delivered by RiTE Ugljevik in the period from June 2011 to December 2021.
