Aspect Croatia discovers gas deposit at Trebarjevo-1 exploration well

On September 24, the Ministry of Economy announced that Aspect Croatia has identified a gas deposit at the Trebarjevo-1 exploration well, located approximately ten kilometers southeast of Sisak. The company reported its discovery to the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency, indicating significant progress in the Sava-06 exploration block, which spans Zagreb County and parts of Sisak-Moslavina and Koprivnica-Križevci Counties.

Drilling operations commenced in June 2023, reaching a depth of 1,670 meters by June 23. The well has successfully detected hydrocarbon saturation, exceeding expectations. Marijan Krpan, chairman of the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency, revealed that the well has yielded between 160,000 and 320,000 cubic meters of gas, contributing approximately 10% of Croatia’s total daily gas production. Economy Minister Ante Å uÅ¡njar welcomed the discovery, highlighting the importance of increasing domestic gas production amidst ongoing price volatility.

Aspect Croatia, a subsidiary of Denver-based Aspect Holdings, signed a hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation agreement with the Croatian government in 2020. The Ministry emphasized that these new agreements not only enhance state revenues through shared production and profit tax but also benefit regional and local communities through fees related to hydrocarbon extraction and surface occupation during the project’s lifetime.
