In 2024, the Kosovo-Albanian electricity exchange ALPEX recorded a total trade volume of 1,172.6 GWh on its day-ahead market, marking its first full year of cross-border electricity trading.

The majority of electricity flowed from Kosovo to Albania, with 241,097.3 MWh transmitted, while Albanian traders supplied 27,816.9 MWh to Kosovo. The average market clearing price for both bidding zones stood at 112.01 euros/MWh.

Trading in the Albanian bidding zone began in April 2023, while Kosovo launched its first auction on 31 January 2024, with electricity delivery commencing on 1 February.
