Montenegro: Final turbine foundation completed at Gvozd wind farm

The final turbine foundation has been poured at the Gvozd wind farm, marking a key milestone for one of Montenegro’s largest renewable energy projects. With a total investment exceeding 80 million euros, the project is located between Nikšić and Šavnik and is expected to play a significant role in the country’s transition to clean electricity.

Construction on the last base is nearing completion, while excavation and embankment works for access roads have already been finalized. Contractor Bemax, which also built the Krnovo and Možura wind farms, has advanced the project well ahead of its initial mid-2026 schedule, drawing on strong logistics and experienced teams.

The next phase will focus on network infrastructure, including the installation of electricity and control cables connecting the turbines to the new Gvozd substation. Out of the planned 7.5 kilometers of cabling, 2.5 kilometers have already been laid.

Once operational, the eight turbines are expected to generate around 150 GWh of electricity annually—enough to supply over 25,000 households. The project will contribute to lowering carbon emissions and reinforce Montenegro’s broader green energy goals.
