Romania: Electricity prices and volumes decline amid market adjustments in June

In June 2025, the average electricity price on Romania’s day-ahead market at the OPCOM exchange was 86.13 euros per MWh, marking an 11.91% decrease compared to June 2024 and a slight 0.28% drop from May 2025, when the average baseload price was 85.9 euros per MWh.

The traded volume in June reached 1.16 million MWh, down 11.74% from the same month last year and 2.13% lower than in May. The average traded volume during June 2025 was 1,610.3 MWh per hour. Total transaction value for the month amounted to 105.5 million euros, a 23.26% decrease year-on-year (from 137.5 million euros in June 2024) and 2.89% less than May’s 108.6 million euros.

The day-ahead market’s share of forecasted net consumption in June 2024 stood at 31.43%.

On the intraday market, a total of 199,982.6 MWh was traded in June 2025, reflecting a 13.36% increase compared to June 2024 but a slight 0.88% decline versus May. The average intraday price was 76.28 euros per MWh, down 21.19% year-on-year and 3.74% compared to the previous month.

For bilateral contracts with June delivery, total traded volume reached 1.159 million MWh, with an average price of 101.47 euros per MWh.
