Bulgaria: IBEX day-ahead market sees slight monthly decline, yearly growth in May 2025

In May 2025, a total of 2,225,726.2 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), representing a 3.5% decrease compared to the previous month. The average daily traded volume in May was 71,797.6 MWh. However, the traded volume in May 2025 was 6.7% higher than in the same month the previous year.

The average baseload price on the day-ahead market in May stood at 85.36 euros/MWh, slightly up by 0.5% compared to April’s 84.95 euros/MWh, while the average peak price dropped by 4.7% to 58.33 euros/MWh. There were 131 registered participants in the IBEX day-ahead market, one more than in the previous month.

On the intraday continuous market, a total of 427,289.7 MWh was traded, marking a 6.3% increase, with the average weighted price rising by 6.6% to 80.78 euros/MWh.
