French renewables developer Valorem has completed its first wind energy project in Greeceāa 27 MW wind farm on Mount Askio near Kozani. The site, once associated with lignite-based power generation, now hosts six Vestas V150 turbines, each with a capacity of 4.5 MW.
Named Anatoliko Askio – Magoula, the wind farm is expected to generate around 68 GWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of approximately 18,000 households. The electricity will be sold through a power purchase agreement with Greek suppliers Optimus and Heron.
The project has also secured a 20-year contract-for-difference backed by the Greek Government. While this contract is not yet in force, it will be activated once the current power purchase agreement concludes.
