Bulgaria: PPC Group expands with 165 MW solar and battery storage project

PPC Group is strengthening its presence in Bulgaria with the development of a new solar power plant featuring integrated battery storage. The project will have a total installed capacity of 165 MW, complemented by a co-located energy storage system with a nominal capacity of 25 MW and an installed capacity of 55 MWh.

The facility will connect to the electricity grid via a newly constructed 33/110 kV step-up substation located on-site. It will utilize 260,000 advanced bifacial solar panels, while the battery storage system will incorporate state-of-the-art liquid-cooled LFP (lithium iron phosphate) technology to enhance efficiency and operational safety.

Once completed, the plant is expected to generate over 265 GWh of electricity annually, supplying power to more than 45,000 households and reducing carbon emissions by approximately 133,000 tons per year.

This solar project will complement PPC Group’s existing 18 MW Garda wind farm in Bulgaria. In addition to the 208 MW of renewable energy capacity currently operational or under construction, PPC Group is also advancing another 550 MW of renewable energy projects across Bulgaria at various stages of development.
