Slovenia: Net electricity generation rises 7% in September

According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the country’s net electricity generation in September 2024 increased by 7% compared to the same month last year. Total net electricity generation reached 1,304 GWh, which is a 4% rise from the previous month.

In September, production from thermal power plants decreased by 3% year-on-year, while hydropower generation saw a significant increase of 16%. Production levels at the Krsko nuclear power plant remained stable. Additionally, output from wind and solar power plants surged by 50%.

During the same month, Slovenia imported 814 GWh of electricity, marking a 29% increase from September 2023, and exported 1,050 GWh, which is up by 20%. Household electricity consumption was 232 GWh, reflecting a 2% decrease from the previous month, while commercial consumers used 601 GWh, an increase of 3% compared to August.

Overall, the supply of energy commodities rose in September, with the exception of lignite and brown coal, which fell by 18%. Petrol supply decreased by 16%, and diesel supply dropped by 10%. However, there were notable increases in the supply of hard coal (up 140%), heating oil (83%), other petroleum products (18%), coke (17%), natural gas (10%), LPG (9%) and kerosene (8%).
