North Macedonia: Nomagas launches new tender for €83.7 million natural gas interconnector with Greece

North Macedonia’s state-owned natural gas transmission company, Nomagas, has announced a new tender for the construction of its segment of the natural gas interconnector with Greece, valued at €83.7 million. This tender comes approximately one year after the initial attempt.

The project involves constructing a 67-kilometer gas pipeline and installing the necessary supporting facilities, with completion expected within 34 months. The deadline for bid submissions is set for November 20.

The first tender, launched in November 2023, received five bids but had to be repeated due to a technical issue. Additionally, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has pledged a loan of €98.6 million to North Macedonia for the gas interconnection project, along with funding for transmission pipelines connecting Gostivar to Kicevo and Sveti Nikole to Veles.
